CISAZ began with just a few concerned community members in 1994.  Today we have grown to provide support in overcoming barriers to education for nearly 18,000 students throughout Greater Phoenix at over 58 schools each year.

CISAZ understands that so much of what happens in the classroom is influenced by conditions outside of school. We work directly with the most disenfranchised student populations,
 identifying and removing barriers to their success in school and life.
 
All CISAZ programs and services are designed to meet the needs of our students by bringing social services and supplemental academic resources into the schools. To do this, we develop partnerships with federal and state agencies, community-based organizations, small businesses, and large corporations.   Working closely with principals, teachers, community leaders and more than 57,000 volunteers, Communities in Schools is able to achieve extraordinary results with modest resources. For just $192 per child per year, we are able to keep 97% of the young people we serve in school and on track to graduation. But many more young people need our help.
