All-Star Kids Tutoring
Mission Statement:
All-Star Kids Tutoring (ASKT) brings schools, volunteers and
organizations together to foster literacy skills in children from
low-income families. ASKT provides one-on-one literacy tutoring free of
charge to 2nd and 3rd grade students struggling to master basic reading
skills.
Vision Statement:
The vision of ASKT is to break the cycle of illiteracy so all children
have an equal opportunity to succeed in education and in life.
What We Do:
ASKT establishes tutoring sites at schools, churches, community centers
and libraries that generously donate the use of these facilities to
ASKT. ASKT supports all volunteers by providing them with the necessary
tools and training to feel confident and successful as literacy tutors.
ASKT collaborates with elementary school staff to create reading
programs that compliment and coincide with those of the school.
Become a Tutor:
Volunteer tutors are the strength of All-Star Kids Tutoring. Volunteers
come from all walks of life. Tutors meet for 90 minutes each week
throughout the school year with the same student. Each meeting includes
an hour of one-on-one tutoring, a healthy snack, and a group activity.
Make a difference. Join ASKT and help break the cycle of illiteracy.
