The Suns-Diamondbacks Education Academy (SDEA) was founded in August of 2001.
SDEA targets students between 16 to 21 years of age who have 10 or more high school credits. These are students who have dropped out or have been unsuccessful in traditional high school settings.
SDEA is a public high school and a member of the Phoenix Union High School District. As such, graduating students receive their high school diploma from the Phoenix Union High School District.
In May of 2003, SDEA, CISA and partners the Arizona Diamondbacks, Phoenix Suns, Phoenix Union High School District, COSTCO Wholesale, APS & Honeywell won the City of Phoenix Mayor's Education Partnership Award for Workforce Development for the outstanding business-education partnership.
