Blue Cross Blue Shield of Arizona
Blue Cross Blue Shield of Arizona has been a longstanding partner of CISA for many years. Not only do they support CISA through annual contributions, Board Leadership, programs for our schools, and other in-kind donations – they roll up their sleeves and volunteer.
Our Partner Schools have been using the services of Blue Cross Blue Shield’s (BCBS) Health Safari for over seven years. The Health Safari is a mobile health unit that travels the State serving those that are in need of healthcare the most – low income communities. The Health Safari helps our schools assess student overall health. We know that student health can affect attendance, promotion rates and standardized test scores like AIMS, which is why BCBS’s Health Safari is such an important piece of what CISA does on school campuses.
"The Health Safari gives CISA the opportunity to provide resources to students under one of its five basics to success - having a healthy start" says Rhonda Bowman, Resource Coordinator at Bret R. Tarver Elementary, one of CISA's Partner Schools. "This conversation about caring for ones own body will spark commitment by the student to understand how important their health is and ultimately spark conversation in the home about the importance of health as well."
Another area where BCBS gets involved is with our annual back-to-school supply drive, Supplies 4 Students. For the past two years, not only has BCBS supported the drive financially, but their employees get involved, too! BCBS employees organized a school supply drive that was very successful – donating close to $3,000 worth of supplies to our schools. To top it off, BCBS employees volunteered 32 hours of their personal time to Supplies 4 Students by assisting shoppers make donations at the information booth at Arizona Mills.
Thank you Blue Cross Blue Shield of Arizona for your continued support of our mission – connecting community resources with schools!
